LADWP launched the Landscape Incentive Program in 2009, which involves replacing turf grass with California Friendly plants, mulch, and permeable pathways. Since turf grass is very expensive to maintain, requiring heavy water use and lots of attention, the California Friendly Landscape Incentive Program is a great way for both residential and commercial LADWP customers to save money and, more importantly, save water.

Please note that application pre-approval is required before starting any landscape project.

RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS: For the residential turf replacement rebate program, all applications must be submitted online through the SoCal Water$mart website. Effective November 1, 2014, LADWP’s single family residential program provides $3.75 per square foot for the first 1,500 square feet, and $2.00 per square foot thereafter with no cap for replacing turf with water wise landscaping features.

COMMERCIAL CUSTOMERS: Effective January 1, 2015 all commercial turf replacement rebate program applications must be submitted online through the SoCal Water$mart website. LADWP’s commercial program has a tiered rebate. Effective July 1, 2014 the program pays up to $3.00 per square foot for replacing turf with water wise landscaping features.
