Deck the Hills: Entertaining during the Holidays

We're coming up on that time of year again. Everyone has their own unique Holiday traditions: I happen to be a New York transplant that married a Los Angeles native. We often split our holidays between his family in sunny Whittier and mine in snowy upstate New York. I get to experience the "best of both worlds" as they say.

In Whittier, we celebrate Christmas Eve with an outdoor meal, a special prayer, and s’mores by the fire pit. As a New Yorker, the simple fact of celebrating in the open air in the dead of winter never ceases to amaze.

So why waste it? There's still time to install some cool features that will make your outdoor living space truly perfect for the family.

FIRE PITS

There is nothing like warming up by the fire after a huge meal (and if your seasonal traditions are anything like mine, they may extend well past midnight). Fire pits come in a variety of styles and, bonus, they look even better when you have a custom bench installed around them (just saying).

WOOD DECK

It doesn't get much better than a wood deck for outdoor cooking and entertaining friends & family during the holidays—especially if your house is situated on a hill. Wood is so versatile: you can make it blend into the landscape or stand out and make a statement. Plus with a little care, it will last for many holidays to come. Now is a great time to contact us so we can fit you in before the holiday rush.

CONCRETE PLATFORM/PERGOLA

Maybe your house is on flatter land or maybe wood just isn't your thing. Another perfect centerpiece for your party is a neat concrete platform with or without a custom pergola. This set-up is supremely durable, easy to keep clean and you can paint it any color you want.

OUTDOOR LIGHTING

Maybe not the first thing you think of when redoing your landscape but absolutely crucial for your evening soiree. From string lights to ground lights, it's really the best way to get the most out of your yard.
